Areas of expertise: exchange rate policies in transition economies, monetary policy in transition economies, Russian and Chinese economy and economic policy.
Dr. Iikka Korhonen received his doctoral degree in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.
He joined the Institute for Economies in Transition in July 1995, and has followed, among other things, banking and financial systems of the Baltic states and Russia. He has been the Head of BOFIT since 1 October 2009, and his past duties with the organization include working as BOFIT's research supervisor. His research interests include exchange rates and inflation in transition and emerging market countries. He has published widely on the correlation of economic activity between different countries, and on the effects of oil prices on economic activity.
