Member of the Board, Generali Austria, CEE & Russia
(*1968) ranks amongst the most important Czech economists.
He graduated in mathematical methods applied to economics at the University of Economics in Prague. In 1995 he received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh.
Before his appointment to the Board of Czech National Bank in 2001 he held senior management positions in the Expandia Group (finance and industry) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (advising in restructuring). In 2005–2010 he was Vice-Governor and in 2010–2016 he was Governor, Czech National Bank. Since January 2017, he has been the Director of Institutional Relations and Chief Economist, Generali CEE Holding, responsible for Austria, CEE & Russia. Since January 2018 he has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the Holding. He is Chairman in the Supervisory Boards of Česká pojišťovna, Pojišťovna Generali (CZ), Poisťovňa Generali (SK) and as Vice-chairman of the Supervisory Board, Moneta Money Bank.
He has won prestigious awards such as Central Banker of the Year in Europe for 2014 by The Banker (FT Group).
